The Courage to Speak the Truth

Decades after the fall of the Islamic empire, the Ummah’s fragmentation and the tyranny of corrupted heads of state who terrorise their people, the Ummah urgently needs to relearn how to proclaim the truth

Praise be to Allah (SWT) et Blessings on Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

O you who are securely committed [to Allah]! Be ever dynamic in standing up for social jus- tice, bearing witness to the truth for the sake of Allah, even though it be against your own selves or your parents and kinsfolk […] [An Nisa, 4:135]

Decades after the fall of the Islamic empire, the Ummah’s fragmentation and the tyranny of corrupted heads of state who terrorise their people, the Ummah urgently needs to relearn how to proclaim the truth. It has become imperative for the Ummah to proclaim the truth and denounce the barbarity of Zionists, the permission to torture that has been given to them, in the face of tyrants and despots and the immoral Epstein gang who are apparent leaders of the so-called civilised world. For Arab Zionists, security is the biggest trophy while engaging for the cause of the Ummah and proclaiming the truth are considered stupid and dangerous.

To fearlessly state the truth is an obligation, per the Shari’ah, as commanded by Allah (SWT). To bring oneself to obey Allah’s (SWT) commandments and work towards His pleasure to reach the highest ranks is a virtue for the believer. It is something that the Ummah constantly needs, especially in governance and politics.

In a world led by paedophiles, cannibals and rapists of children, where Jahiliyyah reigns, it is more than obligatory on the Muslim to enact his role as witness for humanity, to invite towards good and prohibit evil.

And thus, have We willed you to be a central ummah, so that [with your lifetime experiences and assumption of the responsibilities of all prophets] you become attestants to other peoples, and the Apostle becomes a witness over you. […] [Al Baqarah, 2:143]

There are various texts which call for the proclamation of truth, condemning cowardice and criticising Man’s fear of men instead of Allah (SWT). The Qur’an is filled with such verses:

O you who are securely committed [to Allah]! Be ever dynamic in standing up for social jus- tice, bearing witness to the truth for the sake of Allah, even though it be against your own selves or your parents and kinsfolk […] [An Nisa, 4:135]

And do not mask truth and justice with falsehood and unfairness while you knowingly conceal the truth of this matter; [Al Baqarah, 2:42]

This verse prohibits hiding the truth and makes the duty to reveal the truth to guide people as compulsory.

Allah (SWT) then states:

[And that is His way of doing things with] those who communicate Allah’s messages and stand in awe of Him and do not stand in awe of anyone except Allah: for no one can tally [deeds] as sufficiently as Allah.  [Al Ahzab, 33:39]

Allah (SWT) glorifies those who convey His messages to the people, who respect their engagements and who fear none but Him. Neither tyranny nor powerful men can stop him from spreading Allah’s (SWT) messages.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

"Let not the fear of people prevent any of you from speaking the truth when he sees it or witnesses it. Verily, it does not bring one closer to death nor push away sustenance to speak the truth or remind others of the greatness of Allah."

The Prophet (SAW) also warned us against remaining silent in the face of injustice from authorities out of fear of punishment, for Allah’s (SWT) punishment is much more severe.

Let’s not forget that the believer can be subjected to sufferings and persecution in his/her proclamation of the truth and denunciation of injustice. Throughout history, those in Daawah and truthful Ulemas have been oppressed, persecuted and tortured for their steadfastness in supporting truth.

By Allah’s (SWT) grace, the Ummah maintains good actions, even if the tyrants’ prisons are full of sincere scholars and da’ees, who had remained firm in truth, by inviting towards good (al Maruf) and prohibiting evil (al Munkar).

You are indeed the best community that has ever been brought forth for humanity [for its well-being]: you require [and authorize] the doing of the common good and you disallow [and interdict] the common wrong, and you are committed to Allah. […]  [Al’i Imraan, 3:110]

Each day, the world remains witness to the barbarity and cruelty of the Zionist army, while our brothers and sister are victims of the genocide perpetrated by Israel, despite the ceasefire. Meanwhile, the Ummah has forgotten its duty to invite towards good and prohibit what is wrong, its engagement in denouncing atrocious crimes against a part of itself. Hisbah remains compulsory on the Ummah, collectively, but also on Muslims on an individual level.

The statement of the self-proclaimed American Secretary of War that "Whether Sunni or Shia, our enemy is Islam," should arouse a general disapproval from the Ummah. It is a declaration of war, no more, no less. Those who adopt a conciliatory attitude towards Islamophobia have chosen the wrong fight or are living in the wrong era.

[…] Vehement hatred has already come into the open from out of their mouths, but what their hearts conceal is yet of a more serious magnitude. We have indeed made the ayat [thereof] clear to you, if you would but use your reason. [Ali ‘Imraan, 3:118]

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has also said:

"Whoever among you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand; if he cannot, then with his tongue; and if he cannot, then with his heart—and that is the weakest of faith."

An official UN report states that the members of the Epstein gang has given the right to torture to Israel. If you have been offended by the torture inflicted on a one-year-old child, using cigarette butts and nails, you can only imagine what Palestinian detainees are subjected to in Israeli prisons. Where are the protests or denunciations from defence groups of children’s rights?

We have unfortunately abandoned hisbah, pretexting that power is not in our hands, or that we are without means, despite witnessing the barbarity of the Zionists. Those who are looking for success in the hereafter and aspire to please Allah (SWT) need to remember this, especially since they have been abandoned by those who hold power. We need to be sincere in our intentions and fearless of anyone who opposes us. For Allah (SWT) says:

[…] And Allah will decisively help those who rally round Him — […]  [Al Hajj, 22:40]

Inviting towards good and prohibiting wrong is part of the foundations of Islam, our behaviour in Allah’s (SWT) path is a fight, in which we endure sufferings, remaining firm when facing our oppressors, as per the following verse:

O my [dear] son! Establish salah, and demand what is commonly self-evident in its virtues and press for the obliteration of what is commonly self-evident in its vices; and be patient with whatever is brought to bear on you [in the affairs of life]: verily, these are demanding matters [to tend to] [Luqman, 31:17]

Proclaiming the truth may take different forms of denunciation, on social media, or taking a stand in the media, among others. It may also take the shape of rallies to protest and denounce evil.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:

"The best jihad is a word of truth in the face of a tyrant."

May Allah (SWT) help and guide us.
